Downtown Partners Awarded Silver in the Best Integrated Campaign of the Year for “Get Covered Illinois”
Illinois Health Insurance Marketplace and Downtown Partners Chicago awarded Silver Advertising Age Award for statewide “Get Covered Illinois” enrollment push
CHICAGO, IL (October 2, 2014) – Advertising Age, in partnership with Modern Healthcare, has announced that the Illinois Health Insurance Marketplace and Downtown Partners Chicago were awarded Best Integrated Campaign of the Year for “Get Covered Illinois” as part of its Healthcare Marketing Impact Awards.
The Healthcare Marketing Impact Awards recognize the best advertising, marketing, promotion and communication health care campaigns. This includes campaigns that support the advancement of access to high-quality health coverage and the health of individuals and communities, and help organizations thrive in today’s healthcare environment.
The “Get Covered Illinois” campaign was an integrated effort, seeking to enroll uninsured people across the state of Illinois and educate the public on the landmark Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Downtown Partners was charged with creating the brand, logo and overarching campaign look and feel for “Get Covered Illinois.” The agency was tasked with educating and communicating with millions of uninsured Illinoisans, helping them understand the ACA, and ultimately, enrolling them in a health coverage plan.
“The brand didn’t exist, there was a lot of confusion and our target market was basically the entire state of Illinois. We had to segment quickly and get to unique, human insights for each group,” said Dan Consiglio, VP/Executive Creative Director/Partner of Downtown Partners.
In its initial year, the Illinois Health Insurance Marketplace successfully enrolled more than 217,000 Illinois residents in health coverage, exceeding federal expectations by more than 52 percent.
Coupled with enrollment of more than 451,000 people to date in Medicaid under the ACA, nearly 670,000 Illinois residents have enrolled in health care as a result of the state’s enrollment efforts.
“The “Get Covered Illinois” team is gratified to see our outreach and marketing efforts recognized on the national stage,” GCI Executive Director Jennifer Koehler said. “We think this shows that our long-term goal of creating a culture of coverage in Illinois is succeeding. We’re looking to build on the robust enrollment numbers and strong brand we established in our first year of operation as our award-winning campaign gets set for year two of open enrollment beginning on November 15.”
Downtown Partners Chicago will continue its work with the Illinois Health Insurance Marketplace in the second year of enrollment. The Marketplace will officially reopen for 2015 coverage on November 15 and run through February 15, 2015.
